Organizations We Support

Testaverde Fund
The Testaverde foundation is set up to provide a support network to families, particularly parents and spouses, who have recently had a loved one, fall victim to SCI.  In addition, the Center provides information about things such as housing, social security, transportation, equipment or other special needs of those recently afflicted with SCI. They have been our guardian angels since we started transitioning JC home. They spent countless hours talking to us, invited us into their home, explained to us what we should expect and gave us equipment that has been instrumental in JC's recovery.

Project Walk, Carlsbad CA
We went to this program for two weeks after a stem cell transplant. JC became so much stronger, and his trunk strength, arm strength and leg strength improved exponentially. For the first time in two years we saw that if he thought about it and really connected his thoughts to the movement he desired, he was able to move his leg ever so slightly. As time goes on we see these movements get stronger and stronger. Their methods are unconventional, their dedication exceptional, and they have an amazing ability to motivate people to achieve their highest potential.

We are currently fundraising to return to this program for a six week program!

Athlete Evolution is the official sponsor of  "Team JC." It is an elite sports and fitness training facility in Harrison, NY run by Dr. John Thomas. We continue the intense workouts that we learned from Project Walk here and challenge JC to work every muscle that is firing.  Athlete Evolution also offers physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, and personal training services to athletes of all abilities.

Walking With Anthony was founded in 2010 by Micki Purcell. Born out of Anthony Purcell’s (her son) devastating  spinal cord injury, this charitable organization is devoted to helping people cast aside their wheelchairs. Through Micki’s experiences with Anthony’s injury, she learned that many spinal cord injury victims and their families have no idea where to turn for help. Sadly, the majority have limited resources and are thrown out of rehab centers after only 20 days of treatment.
